It started with family.

Jessica grew up in Juoksengi, a small village where the Torne River meets the Arctic Circle. Bill grew up in California. They met in San Francisco in 1998, and Sweden soon became part of their shared story.

The journey north has meant time with family, familiar roads, and a very different rhythm of life. When Zoe joined the adventures, there was even more to remember.

A year of ordinary adventures.

In August 2007, we left California to spend an entire year in Sweden. Long summer evenings became winter days with barely a glimpse of the sun. The river froze, and eventually it broke free again.

These journals began as a way to share those days with family and friends. They are still that: photographs, stories, and a place to keep the little things.
